Capable of simultaneous edging and mitering with high polish, this straight line workhorse is built in the usual Metral style - heavy and precise. With its positive worm gear drive on double crown gears along with an internal clutch linkage on the front conveyor, the conveyor process glass up to 1 1/4” (30mm) thick. Employing an oil slide double chain conveyor system, the pads themselves are in high density nylon with polyamid shoes which ride on a special antifriction replaceable wear strip. In addition, the rubber facings of the pads are snap-on items thereby avoiding expensive replacement costs when worn. The opening of the conveyor is servo-driven.
Motors are 3HP (with 2HP arris stations) with direct drive spindles mounted in cylindrical slides. Polishing wheels have encoder-activated air cylinders with pneumatic self-locking to hold the wheels in place until the arrival of the next piece of glass. The CR-11A is equipped with two cup diamond grinding wheels for flat edge, two rear arrissing wheels (one grinding and one polishing), four mitering wheels (two grinding and two polishing) mounted on a variable angle bed (15-45 degrees), and three cup polishing wheels for the flat edge. The machine can grind and polish the flat edge, the rear arris and the front miter all in one pass. Also available in 10 (CR-10A) and 13-spindle (CR-13A) models. |
